Caribbean Treasures![]() |
Located on the main square, on Ave. 5 between Juarez and Calle 2, the name is Tesoros del Caribe which means Treasures of the Caribbean. They carry jewelry, original paintings and decorative items. Be sure to take a look at the unique tables that the displays are on. The tops of the tables are glass, and the natural wood bases are stunning.
On a recent visit to Cozumel my sister purchased a beautiful necklace, bracelet and earrings of sterling silver and jade. Both of us thought that the price was very reasonable for such a beautiful set. |

Bike riding friend ![]() |
I heard a rustling and scratching at one of the windows inside the front patio area at my house, and when I looked out, I was amazed to see this big fellow sitting on my bike. Afraid that he might run off before I had a chance to get a photo, I slipped out a side door and quietly went around the house, peaked around the corner and caught a photo. | ![]() |
| Then I very slowly opened the gate and slowly walked around to get another angle. I really couldn’t believe I was lucky enough to get these photos. From what I’ve seen of the iguanas that have been around my house, they normally “play possum” and they don’t move unless I get too close to them or move suddenly. | ||

Holiday decorations![]() |
It never snows on Cozumel or even gets cold, but it’s definitely the holiday season. Lights and decorations are up all over town including a big tree at the ferry pier (left) and a very large tree in the main square (right). |

There has been a "Santa House" in the main square, and homes all over town are decorated with colorful lights. |

Streets and sidewalks ![]() |
In the September newsletter I had a photo of the work on the new median on Ave. 10 between Calle 15 and Calle 17. That work has now been completed, and there is grass in the median and lamp posts. There has also been a great deal of work going on in the downtown area, working on the streets between the main oceanfront street and Ave. 10. |

| Work in the center of town has been completed now, but there is still some work on the streets a bit north and a bit south of the main downtown shopping area. The sidewalks have designs in them, and what is really nice is that the sidewalk on one side is very wide. The streets are still one way and from Ave. 10 to the oceanfront street it is now only one lane wide. No parking is allowed but there are areas that taxis or cars can pull over to let off or pick up passengers. Along the new sidewalks are lamp posts and in some area there are benches. |
